...write down your key accomplishments and successes over the past twelve months. I usually have one list for work and one for my personal life. My career successes in 2007 include expanding my speaking and training company (Get in Front Communications), writing a book, and telling a client in NJ that a nonprofit veterans group in their area needed funds for a matching grant to purchase a van. They took on the project and raised $12,000 in two months! We had outstanding PR on this too! On my personal list, I have spent more time on relaxation, meditation and “me” (including a new Bunco game for women in my neighborhood), I met my new favorite author Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray Love) and I have spent more time with my family.

PR professionals tend to take the back seat when it comes to projects at work. We are often “ghost-writers”” who brilliantly craft words, messages, content and angles for our bosses and clients so they will look good in the public’s collective eye.

Now it’s your turn to take the spotlight and be center stage. By writing your own Top 10 list, you will be reminding yourself of the good things you have done. It will energize you and get you excited about what lies ahead in 2008. Give yourself credit for the projects you’ve worked on, the people you have helped and the good that you have done. Then make your Top 10 Goal List for 2008. Build on the momentum of your 2007 successes.
